The Red Crescent Society of Kazakhstan (RCSK) was founded in 1937 as part of the Soviet Alliance of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and became independent in 1992. The Kazakhstan Red Crescent Society was formally admitted to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) at the Federation’s General Assembly (GA) in Geneva on November 2003, which at the time brought this National Society (NS) to the 181st full members of the IFRC. The decision to admit the new National Society was adopted unanimously by the GA.[1]

Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan (RCSK), or Kyrgyz Red Crescent, has no official acronym and is interchangeably abbreviated RCSK or KRCS (the latter meaning either Kyrgyzstan or Kyrgyz Red Crescent Society). Sometimes "society" is omitted, e.g. Red Crescent of Kyrgyzstan.[2]
