  1. to provide advice to the public through healthy lifestyle advocacy using social marketing,
  2. to provide evidence based information and intelligence to organisations involved in improving health and commissioning health and health & social care services,
  3. to advocate the implementation of evidence based interventions to improve the health of the population and reduce health inequalities, and
  4. to work in partnership with public, private and voluntary sector organisations to promote health and reduce health inequalities.

Participatory hygiene and sanitation transformation is a hygiene promotion approach that uses a series of methods and materials to stimulate community participation.[2]
