- The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is the largest humanitarian network in the world. Its mission is to alleviate human suffering, protect life and health, and uphold human dignity especially during armed conflicts and other emergencies. It is present in every country and supported by millions of volunteers.[1]
This movement is not a single organisation. It is composed of (1) the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), (2) the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and (3) all the individual National Societies. Please see the IFRC directory[2] for an updated list of all the member societies.
