IMAM
Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition

IMAM is a nutritional program designed especially for children of 6-59 months of age and is an important concept for management of malnutrition.[1]

Key principles:

  1. Maximum coverage and access
  2. Timeliness
  3. Appropriate medical care and nutritional rehabilitation
  4. Care for as long as it is needed

The IMAM programme has four components:

  1. Community outreach/mobilization
  2. Outpatient treatment of SAM without complication
  3. In-patient treatment of SAM with complication
  4. Management of moderate acute malnutrition
