- Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition
IMAM is a nutritional program designed especially for children of 6-59 months of age and is an important concept for management of malnutrition.[1]
Key principles:
- Maximum coverage and access
- Timeliness
- Appropriate medical care and nutritional rehabilitation
- Care for as long as it is needed
The IMAM programme has four components:
- Community outreach/mobilization
- Outpatient treatment of SAM without complication
- In-patient treatment of SAM with complication
- Management of moderate acute malnutrition
