The Global Health Workforce Alliance (The Alliance) was created in 2006 as a common platform for action to address the world's chronic shortage of doctors, nurses and midwives, particularly in subāSaharan Africa, where the crisis was most acute. The GHWA was replaced in 2016 by the Global Health Workforce Network (GHWN).[1][2]
