EMS
Emergency medical services

Emergency medical services (EMS), also known as ambulance services or paramedic services, are emergency services which treat illnesses and injuries that require an urgent medical response, providing out-of-hospital treatment and transport to definitive care.[1]

This refers to the medical professionals who respond to the emergency telephone number (often 112 or 911)[2] and treat and transport people in crisis health situations, responding to the needs of a variety of patients in life-threatening situations, from car accidents, to drownings, to incidents of cardiac arrest, stroke, overdose, trauma, and mass casualty incidents.
