- Community Based First Aid
In the 1990s, community-based first aid (CBFA) was the principal IFRC method of teaching first aid and health to communities.
From 2005, CBFA was updated and revitalised into a more action-oriented and comprehensive approach, including feedback from more than 35 Red Cross and Red Crescent societies, health professionals and other sector partners, which lead to the development of a new curriculum. Workshops that included participants from more than 70 National Societies, supported by the Finnish and Swedish Red Cross societies, then resulted in a new concept: the Community-Based Health and First Aid in action (CBHFA) approach.[1]
