Acute Flaccid Paralysis

AFP is a clinical syndrome characterized by weakness or paralysis and reduced muscle tone without other obvious cause; it may be due to infection (eg. polio, either WPV or VDPV; or immunological reaction to infection, GBS) or poisoning (eg. botulism or curare). The condition can become fatal if it affects the respiratory muscles.
